So, it has come to my attention that Eric Furst's Words, which started on the Bigwhoop network around the same time as OSFHFS here, reached 5,000 hits this weekend, around the same time I was hitting 2,000. Also, since then Furst has gotten about 300 hits, while I've gotten less than 50. This tells me a few things.
1) I don't have enough friends, or I don't have enough friends who feel the need to obsessively check up on my life.
2) I don't obsessively update about my life often enough to satisfy the friends who do obsessively check up on it.
3) Kittens are pretty.
Now, I don't know why I'm not more interesting to the masses, but, thanks to Deuce and Melissa (who I owe BIG time, by the way), I do know what kind of hipster I am.

You're Geek Chic. Offbeat and with a thumbful of
calluses, you spend most of your time catching
Simpsons reruns and sucking down raspberry
Jell-O. However, you're still a hipster,
you've still got your own style, and you
probably dig the Velvet Underground's "Who
Loves the Sun?"
What Kind of Hipster Are You?
brought to you by Quizilla
I don't know about the Velvet Underground part, but the rest is right on the money, right down to the Donatello bit. If Donatello isn't your favorite Turtle you're a moron.
So, tensions are running a little high in the household as the wedding approaches (T-minus 19 days), but I'm confident everything will pull through smoothly. By the way, I just want to say again that if you weren't invited to the wedding, it's not because I don't like you, though it doesn't necessarily mean that I don't not like you.
Finally, X2: X-Men United is not only a better football team than Manchester United (Geek Chic crossed with anglophilia! Off the charts!!) but it is, quite simply the best comic book movie ever. It's like Batman and Robin on opposite day. It's fantastic. If you like comics, I don't have to tell you to go see it because you saw it. If you don't, see it anyway, and feel free to call me during the film and say "Who's that blue guy?" and I'll say "That's Nightcrawler" and you'll say "Oh."
Onward to 5,000!!!
Posted by Justin at May 06, 2003 01:53 PMYOU. DO. NOT. OWE. ME!!!! If anything, it just cancels out the tiniest fraction of the massive debt that I owe to you. Stop it, stop it, stop it!
I could have told you any day that you were Geek Chic. Seriously, I saw that and thought of you and you alone. That said, as soon as I get paid (Thursday, midnight) I am hightailing it out to my local movie theater to view X2. I am quite psyched. Never mind that I will be on a bus at 6:00 AM to New York to get myself drunk, drunk, DRUNK!
If you would like to see me at some point this weekend, I can try to take a later bus home. I might be a bit hung over, but I suppose that's nothing new. Completely up to you and your time schedule.
Ciao babycakes!
