Frustrated, Incorporated

Somewhere, in another office, someone's radio was playing Soul Asylum. Crazy.

Speaking of crazy, my life lately! As you know, I've been in full-time panic mode trying to improve my life lately. Maybe improve is the wrong word, as my life is just fine. Better. Better my life. Basically, I know what my goals are and I'm trying to move towards them. Mostly this involves trying to earn more money, through various (legal) means. I want to buy a house. Or maybe build a house, but not with my own two hands. I'm a weak, weak man.

The thing that's got me the most itchy lately is my comic book. I found an artist on the internet who was willing to read the script, and he liked it enough to agree to work on it with me. So for the past week or so we've been volleying back and forth, with him sending me character designs and me trying to figure out exactly what the hell I want these characters in my head to look like. It's tough, especially because I've never been a very visual thinker. I'm so effin' psyched, though, and it's not just because the art is fantastic and I think I have a good shot at getting published. I have so much fun writing this thing. It's an amazing feeling to have readers get to the end of an issue and want to know what happens next, and you're the only one who does. I feel far more in control of this story than I do of most things I write. And best of all, I have a feeling and an affinity for the characters more than with most of the stuff I've written. Usually I have the easiest time writing pre-existing characters, because I know exactly who they are, but I really know who most of these characters are. If I had to describe the book to you, my reading audience, it's basically, "What if the Slow Kids were superheroes instead of sketch comedians?" I expect you all to buy 20 copies when and if it comes out. Lord, I hope it comes out.

Brooke's doing well, although I worked my connections to get her free tix to a Perfect Circle this weekend, and then they freakin scheduled her at work that night. That sucks. We're both disappointed. Poor Brooke. She's even more waiting to see what happens with the future than I am. Lots of stuff is up in the air right now, but in a fairly good way.

"Easy Money"

I got paid $20 to eat a donut today. Granted, it was a mystery donut, but it wasn't rancid or anything. I consider that time well spent.

I swear I'm not as much of a loser as I'm coming off here. Would it help that this happened during a meeting?

Lovely Spam

For the strangest spam you've ever seen, read the comments on my last three entries. Weird.
